Tony Allison is an event and film production manager, photographer and artist who lives in northern NSW, Australia when not travelling. For more than 25 years his work and passion has been the creation and creative presentation of all forms of art including music festivals, circus, theatre and film.
Tony began his working life in newspapers as a photographer, graphic designer and copywriter. Through community theatre and touring productions, he travelled extensively as a lighting technician and stage manager with circus, theatre and festival events. The projects he has developed or managed include festivals, theatre and performance based events and workshops in digital media, film production and events management. Some career highlights include being local Site Manager for international touring acts such as The Rolling Stones, U2, Michael Jackson and Madonna. He also worked as Production Manager for the first and second Australian International Military Tattoo and the Livid Festival. His role in the film industry has varied as a location researcher and manager, production and unit manager and as art department coordinator and dive supervisor.
Tony is passionate about providing practical life skills and opportunities for young people in rural and remote areas using digital media in all its forms as a creative outlet for positive expression and the exploration of social justice and other issues.
Tony returned to West Kalimantan in February 2013 to document ongoing community development and capacity building programs and to volunteer with The Canopy Foundation, assisting with strategic planning and creating a website for the organization.
